Limelight IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that targets various skin imperfections, including sun damage, brown spots, freckles, and skin redness on the face and body. Utilising the Cutera LimeLight laser on our first in Scotland XEO+ Laser platform this procedure offers our team customizable settings to address specific skin concerns effectively.

The treatment delivers pulses of light that penetrate the skin, targeting pigmented brown or red cells. This process heats the targeted cells, leading to their therapeutic effect. Treatment is very well tolerated and generally considered painless.

Before a full treatment we will perform a 'patch test' - where a small area is treated with IPL to assess your response to the treatment. Therefore, for your first treatment, we recommend two appointments 24 hours apart.

Benefits of Limelight IPL:
- Reduces the appearance of brown spots and freckles.
- Decreases facial redness and visible blood vessels.
- Improves overall skin tone and texture.
- Requires minimal to no downtime post-treatment.

During the procedure, a cooling gel is applied to the target area to facilitate the smooth glide of the LimeLight device. The treatment is generally well-tolerated, with minimal discomfort reported.

Post-treatment, brown spots may darken, and the skin might appear slightly red, with any swelling typically resolving within a few hours to a day.
The Stockbridge clinic

before and after IPL treatment

A series of three-six IPL treatments, spaced four weeks apart, is typically recommended to achieve optimal results however improvements can often be observed after just one session.

Limelight IPL can be used as a standalone treatment or combined with other treatments such as Laser Genesis for enhanced results.

Thank you so much to Dr Ben for my recent treatments at the Stockbridge Clinic. As it was my first time having any aesthetic treatments, I was quite nervous, but he was amazing and listened carefully to what I wanted. My results are very natural and I’m so pleased with them. I would highly recommend Dr Ben, especially for anyone considering treatments for the first time!

I can’t recommend Stockbridge Facial Aesthetic Clinic highly enough. From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. This is a doctor-led clinic, and the team are incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and clearly have a deep understanding of facial aesthetics and injectable treatments. I felt completely confident and at ease in their hands. The clinic itself is relaxed, welcoming, and such a lovely place to visit it genuinely feels calm and reassuring the moment you walk in. Everything is explained thoroughly, and the care and attention to detail really set them apart. I would 100% recommend Stockbridge Facial Aesthetic Clinic to anyone considering aesthetic treatments, and I will definitely be back. A truly great clinic and an all-round excellent experience.

As an older woman with a number of age related skin issues, I was self conscious about my skin and nervous about having treatment. However both Dr.Ben and Karen at the Stockbridge clinic took time to really listen to my concerns and explain what would work best for my skin and my age. I felt really taken care of and the whole experience was so relaxing and pleasant. Highly recommend this clinic.

My partner and I started seeing Karen for facial laser treatments last year. Along with our skin being fresher and clearer, she has somehow found a way to make me laugh through less-than-enjoyable hair removal treatments! She is so knowledgeable and friendly - Highly recommend Karen and Stockbridge Clinic.

Concerns this will help

Sagging Skin

Sagging skin is primarily caused by the natural aging process, as the production of collagen and elastin—proteins that provide skin with firmness and elasticity—declines over time. This loss leads to skin loosening and sagging. Sun exposure accelerates this process, causing photoaging and further weakening of the skin’s support structure. Other factors, such as smoking, dehydration, poor diet, and a lack of sleep, can also contribute by damaging the skin’s ability to regenerate and maintain moisture.

Dull Skin

Dull skin can be caused by several factors, often linked to a buildup of dead skin cells, poor circulation, or dehydration. As we age, skin cell turnover slows, leading to a lack of radiance. Sun damage can also cause uneven skin tone, making skin appear lackluster.

Acne Scarring

Acne scarring occurs when inflamed acne lesions damage the skin’s deeper layers, causing tissue loss or irregular healing. There are two main types: atrophic scars, which are sunken or pitted, and hypertrophic scars, which are raised and thick. Atrophic scars result from a loss of collagen, while hypertrophic scars occur due to excess collagen production. Factors like picking at acne, severe breakouts, and delayed treatment can worsen scarring.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, or striae, occur when the skin is stretched rapidly due to factors like pregnancy, puberty, rapid weight gain, or certain medical conditions. The skin’s collagen and elastin fibers tear under pressure, leading to visible, often red or purple marks that fade to a lighter color over time. Hormonal changes, particularly involving corticosteroids, can also weaken the skin’s elasticity. Treatments for stretch marks include topical creams with retinoids or hyaluronic acid, which can improve skin texture.
