Redness and Rosacea

The Stockbridge clinic

What is rosacea?

Redness in the skin is common, often following warm temperatures, exercise or sun exposure. Occasionally, redness can persist and in some individuals redness and flushing can be present all the time, with an exaggerated response to external factors.

Over time, this can worsen and sometimes result in visible broken blood vessels on the face, as well as swelling of the face and neck.

This is referred to as Rosacea and sometimes co-exists with blemishes and oily skin on the face. For individuals affected, rosacea can be distressing and get in the way of day to day life with some people experiencing a significant impact on their confidence and self-esteem.

Medical Grade Skincare

Obagi Medical Skin Care is a line of dermatologist-developed skincare products designed to address various skin concerns, including aging, pigmentation, acne, and sun damage. The brand offers a range of clinically proven products containing prescription-strength ingredients like tretinoin, hydroquinone, and vitamin C, aimed at improving skin health and appearance. Obagi products work by promoting cell turnover, enhancing skin hydration, and improving elasticity, helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and discolouration.

Dermalux LED Therapy

Dermalux therapy is a non-invasive light-based treatment that uses LED (light-emitting diode) technology to improve skin health. It works by exposing the skin to specific wavelengths of light—blue, red, and near-infrared—to target various skin concerns. Blue light kills acne-causing bacteria, reducing breakouts, while red light stimulates collagen production, promoting skin rejuvenation and reducing fine lines. Near-infrared light penetrates deeper to enhance tissue repair and reduce inflammation.

Medical Grade Skin Peels

Skin peels, or chemical peels, are treatments that use exfoliating agents to remove dead skin cells and stimulate skin renewal. The procedure involves applying a chemical solution, often containing acids like glycolic, salicylic, or trichloroacetic acid, to the skin. These acids break down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more easily. Depending on the strength of the peel, it can target surface-level issues like fine lines, acne, and pigmentation.
