Hollow Cheeks

The Stockbridge clinic

What causes hollow cheeks?

As we age, loss of volume in the face can often contribute to us appearing “tired”. This occurs due to facial fat shrinking and becoming re-distributed within the face, leading to a loss of structural support for overlying skin.

Some people naturally have very little facial fat to support overlying structures so may have feel they appear hollow even at a young age.

What treatments can help hollow cheeks?

Careful use of dermal fillers can restore this lost volume leading to a rejuvenated appearance, giving immediate results with minimal downtime.

Collagen stimulators -  such as Radiesse - are another great option for subtle volume restoration in the cheek and mid face area.

Understandably, many patients are concerned about having dermal fillers due to fear of looking “overfilled” - unfortunately within popular culture there are several examples of people who have developed this appearance. When dermal fillers are used appropriately - and the treatment is performed by an expert clinician - the results will be rejuvenating and undetectable with no telltale “filled” appearance.

Collagen Biostimulators

Collagen-stimulating fillers, like Radiesse, are designed to improve skin volume and texture by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel, which are injected into the skin to provide immediate volume. Over time, the body absorbs the filler’s gel component, leaving behind a scaffold that encourages collagen growth. This helps restore lost volume, smooth out wrinkles, and improve skin elasticity.

Cheek & Midface Filler

Cheek filler is a non-surgical treatment used to restore volume, contour, and definition to the cheeks. Typically composed of hyaluronic acid or other biocompatible substances, the filler is injected into specific areas of the cheek to lift sagging skin, smooth out hollows, and enhance facial symmetry. The hyaluronic acid attracts water, helping to hydrate and plump the skin. This creates a natural, youthful look by replacing lost volume and improving facial contours.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotide cosmetic treatment involves the use of products derived from DNA, to rejuvenate and revitalise the skin. These treatments typically involve injecting polynucleotides into targeted areas to promote tissue repair, stimulate collagen production, and enhance skin hydration and elasticity. The DNA-based compounds in polynucleotides contain growth factors that help regenerate skin cells, improving skin texture, tone, and overall appearance. This treatment is often used for fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and skin aging.

Tear Trough Filler

Tear trough filler is a non-invasive treatment designed to reduce the appearance of dark circles and hollows under the eyes. Using hyaluronic acid-based fillers, the procedure restores volume to the tear trough area, smoothing out sunken skin and reducing shadows. This results in a more refreshed, youthful look by addressing tired or aged under-eye appearances. The treatment is quick, with minimal downtime, and results typically last between 9 to 12 months, depending on the type of filler used.
