Enlarged Pores

The Stockbridge clinic

What are enlarged pores?

Pores play a crucial role in skin health and function, allowing the release of skin oil (sebum) as well as the natural skin cycle of skin turnover.

Sometimes however pores can appear enlarged and detract from the appearance of smooth & healthy skin. This commonly (but not always) occurs alongside oily or acne-prone skin. Contrary to popular belief, pores cannot be “closed” with skin products however there are certain medical-grade skincare products and in-clinic treatments which can minimise the appearance of enlarged pores, enhancing the overall appearance and clarity of the skin.

What treatments improve enlarged pores?

The first step is to maximise skin health through an evidenced-based and personalised medical grade skincare plan.

This, combined with in-clinic treatments such as micro needling, SecretRF, medical skin peels and exosomes can minimise the appearance of enlarged pores and get your skin glowing.

Exosomes

Exosomes are small, naturally occurring vesicles released by cells that play a key role in cell communication and tissue repair. In skincare, exosome therapy involves using these vesicles, often derived from stem cells, to promote healing and rejuvenation. Exosomes contain proteins, lipids, and RNA that can stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and support cellular regeneration. When applied topically or injected, exosomes help improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and enhance overall skin health by promoting faster healing and renewal.

Medical Grade Skincare

Obagi Medical Skin Care is a line of dermatologist-developed skincare products designed to address various skin concerns, including aging, pigmentation, acne, and sun damage. The brand offers a range of clinically proven products containing prescription-strength ingredients like tretinoin, hydroquinone, and vitamin C, aimed at improving skin health and appearance. Obagi products work by promoting cell turnover, enhancing skin hydration, and improving elasticity, helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and discolouration.

Medical Grade Skin Peels

Skin peels, or chemical peels, are treatments that use exfoliating agents to remove dead skin cells and stimulate skin renewal. The procedure involves applying a chemical solution, often containing acids like glycolic, salicylic, or trichloroacetic acid, to the skin. These acids break down the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to shed more easily. Depending on the strength of the peel, it can target surface-level issues like fine lines, acne, and pigmentation.

Secret RF Microneedling

Secret RF is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy. During the procedure, fine needles create tiny channels in the skin, while RF energy is delivered to deeper layers, stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin. This treatment effectively improves skin texture, reduces wrinkles, scars, and pigmentation, and enhances overall skin tone and elasticity. It’s minimally invasive with little downtime and offers long-lasting, natural-looking results.
