Dark Undereye Circles & Eye Bags

The Stockbridge clinic

What causes dark circles & eye bags?

The eye area is one of the first places people look when they interact with us. Eye bags, dark underlies circles and under-eye hollows can give the appearance of tiredness, fatigue or stress with many patients reporting frustration that they look tired when they do not feel it.

Changes here are caused by a combination of age-related and anatomical factors. Loss of volume (fat) under the eye, skin becoming looser and muscles causing creasing of the skin can all lead to changes to the eye area.

The undereye and peri-orbital area is one of the most challenging areas to treat so it’s crucial to ensure you see a clinician experienced in peri-orbital rejuvenation. Our team are experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of all undereye and peri-orbital concerns and Dr Ben has particular expertise in treatment of the upper and mid-face including peri-orbital revolumisation with dermal fillers.

What are treatments for the eye area?

Treatments for rejuvenation of the eye area include dermal fillers (Tear trough filler) for volume replacement, the use of skin boosters including polynucleotide treatment, platelet rich plasma and the use of SecretRF for skin tightening of the upper and lower eyelids.

Anti-wrinkle injectors ("Botox") are another popular treatment for fine lines & wrinkles around the eye and for lifting the brow.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotide cosmetic treatment involves the use of products derived from DNA, to rejuvenate and revitalise the skin. These treatments typically involve injecting polynucleotides into targeted areas to promote tissue repair, stimulate collagen production, and enhance skin hydration and elasticity. The DNA-based compounds in polynucleotides contain growth factors that help regenerate skin cells, improving skin texture, tone, and overall appearance. This treatment is often used for fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and skin aging.

Tear Trough Filler

Tear trough filler is a non-invasive treatment designed to reduce the appearance of dark circles and hollows under the eyes. Using hyaluronic acid-based fillers, the procedure restores volume to the tear trough area, smoothing out sunken skin and reducing shadows. This results in a more refreshed, youthful look by addressing tired or aged under-eye appearances. The treatment is quick, with minimal downtime, and results typically last between 9 to 12 months, depending on the type of filler used.

Secret RF Microneedling

Secret RF is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) energy. During the procedure, fine needles create tiny channels in the skin, while RF energy is delivered to deeper layers, stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin. This treatment effectively improves skin texture, reduces wrinkles, scars, and pigmentation, and enhances overall skin tone and elasticity. It’s minimally invasive with little downtime and offers long-lasting, natural-looking results.

Anti-wrinkle Injections

Botox injections are a popular cosmetic treatment that temporarily relaxes facial muscles by blocking nerve signals. This reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, particularly around the eyes, forehead, and between the eyebrows. Botox is derived from botulinum toxin, which, when used in small doses, is safe and effective. Advanced botox techniques include excessive sweating treatment, gummy smile correction, jaw line slimming and neck rejuvenation.
